Mojotastic
hey!
firstly, the austin powers mojotastic flashmob on saturday was a success, and no doubt there will be many photos and video footage submitted by participating mobbers shortly. thanks to all those who came to groove with us.
how's this for crazy randomness, turns out our mob finished up at the wagamama noodle eating competition, it would have made fat bastard proud! although he guy who won was skinny O_o
currently editing the official video so watch this space...
also, you might want to check out flashmob.tv database it's an awesome idea.
finally at the risk of sounding cheesy =P the AFC want to wish our members all the best during this somewhat insane time of year, and hope to see you (and friends and friends of friends - spread the word!!) for many more mobs in 2010. stay connected here, over email, facebook, youtube, and i suppose i ought to set up a twitter pretty soon huh. yes.
take care, ~the AFC~

For those who missed it, it was held outside the Armageddon Event in Aotea Square next to Imax in Auckland and we froze for approximately 2 minutes. The lovely video will be up soon :)

Ultimate Rock Paper Scissors Flash Mob!!
Hi and welcome to the next Flash Mob in Auckland City! This next one is sure to be a show stopper in the Ultimate Rock Paper Scissors competition.
This is what you do!
It’s just a basic twist on rock paper scissors. The point is that you start with a one on one battle of rock paper scissors and as each single game is completed you are left with one champion and one defeated challenger.
The Champion continues to find other champions and challenges them to battle while the defeated challenger becomes a devoted supporter to the champion, shouting roars of support and cheer. As the Champion begins to progress he/she not only wins battles but also wins the unwavering support of the challenger, including the challengers own supporters. The whole group now carries on to find other worthy challengers. The collected crowds shout their Champion’s name and scream war cries and supportive chants as they walk along, following their Hero.
This pattern continues until only two champions remain. These two champions, surrounded by their hoards of supporters, will then square off in the final battle. Once the Ultimate Champion has been discovered all competitors unite to hail the victor.
Ok. Now that you have the idea, how do we start and end?
The gathering place will be at the Skate Park on Victoria Street West on Saturday the 13th of September at around 11:45am. For the sake of surprise it is important for the fellow flash mobbers to be blending into the environment at the time the flash mob occurs. To achieve this we encourage people to arrive (casually) at the scene well before the allotted time and relax, chat and inconspicuously wait for the event. SURPRISE IS EVERYTHING!!
For a quick video tutorial on how this all works - Check out this video -
Q: Right, now when everyone is there, chilling and waiting, how do we know when to start?
A: The Ultimate Champion Rock-off will begin once (place sound here) has been (sounded).
Q: Mkay, now I’ve started rocking off, I won my first battle, what next?
A: Alright, move on with your supporter, find more people to battle and if you win again, take the new support and carry on your quest.
Q: My supporter(s) looks lost, what are they supposed to be doing again???
A: Your support is devoted to you, tell them your name so they can chant it, let them shout and scream for you, they love you, you are their Hero!!
Q: Cool, now I’ve got a big group of support, which are shouting their heads off, and there are only two of us left. How do we finish this thing?
A: Both the Ultimate Champion Rock-Off and the flash mob finish at the same time. Once the Ultimate Champion has been decided, all the flash mobbers/ supporters hail their true Champion. They all learn his/her name and they all chant it loudly. The supporters lift the Champion into the air and give him/her the praise that a Champion is worthy of. The moment that the Champion is placed safely back onto the ground, THE ENTIRE THING IS OVER.
For effect, it is impressive if all flash mobbers disperse SLOWLY as the event finishes. Don’t worry too much about going back to your original positions. It is merely important for the general energy of the group to be what changes, moving from low energy before the rock-off into a massive burst of intense energy during the rock-off and then subsiding back to low energy at the end. The more abrupt and fast these changes in energy happen, the more effective and dramatic the flash mob will be. So to conclude on this point, be calm, then absolutely explode and then come back to being calm just as quickly as you exploded – That is what makes a great flash mob!!!
Hope you enjoy. C you there
